Breast Lift after Weight Loss

After major weight loss, many people desire to improve the overall appearance of their breasts through plastic surgery. With aging, the glandular, firm portions of the breast tissue are replaced with a looser and fattier tissue that causes the breast to lose its shape. After major weight loss this same process kicks in causing similar changes to occur in the breasts.  Women and men may share this concern. You want to be able to look as good as you feel after your weight loss and with the help of Dr. David Stoker you can.

As every patient’s breasts are different following weight loss, there are several different techniques that can be used to achieve the desired results. The best way to determine what your breast lift after weight loss will entail is to set up a personal consultation with Dr. Stoker by calling his office at (310) 300-1779 or by requesting a consultation online.

A common reason for decreased skin elasticity, especially in the breast region, is undergoing a rapid weight loss. Patients that undergo a breast lift or, mastoplexy, after weight loss will have excess and sagging breast skin removed as well as have the breast and nipple lifted to a more youthful and attractive position. This will create a suppler breast appearance similar to how they were before the massive weight fluctuations.

Every patient’s breast lift surgery after weight loss will be individualized to their aesthetic goals and patient needs. Most patients are required to have excess skin around the areola removed during the breast lift surgery.  Some will also benefit from the removal of excess breast tissue as well. The procedure can be performed with either the use of general anesthesia or “twilight” depending on the patient. Many patients report that there is a less than average amount of discomfort and that they are able to return to work within a few days.

Breast Augmentation after Weight Loss
After weight loss, the skin of the breast is not the only part affected. The actual breast tissue will also become loose have a deflated appearance. With breast augmentation after weight loss, patients can restore the volume and placement of the breasts that was lost. Patients can regain their confidence after breast enlargement surgery by finally having the body that they have already worked so hard to achieve.

Breast augmentation after weight loss can be performed on an outpatient basis either under “twilight” or general anesthesia. Typically, most patients are able to return to work after a few days and start normal activities in about two weeks. Dr. Stoker will help work you through the recovery process with an individualized recovery plan.
